Introduction

Student with CAD Image Michigan Technological University and the Keweenaw Research Center share many common elements. One of these elements and a contributor to the overall mission statement of KRC is students. Student work at KRC is very important and not underestimated. KRC currently employees 6 undergraduate and 2 graduate students. Working at KRC allows exposure to a broad range of engineering experience.   Engineering can be seen in its full cycle from concept to design, manufacture, testing and analysis. Working at KRC also allows students to take classes on campus that often parallel work being done at KRC. For example, a student taking a class in solid modeling can gain hands on experience and exposure to contracted work requiring solid modeling at KRC. Students also get exposure to vehicle testing, strain gaging, mechanical testing and NVH work.

KRC typically employees students as late sophomores or early juniors at MTU and will often support graduate research. KRC provides job assistance for all graduating students working at KRC. Student applicants are typically highly ranked in their class and are highly motivated, quick learning individuals. The experience they gain while working at KRC gives them a great advantage when job hunting, and provides a well-rounded, confident, engineering background.

MTU Alumni and Friends may find out more about past KRC students by searching the Michigan Tech Alumni Directory. Anyone can find information about a current student in the MTU Directory Lookup.
